Dear School Community,

Three consecutive weekends without a COVID-19 positive case or contact tracing - the future continues to look better!

As promised last week, I wanted to share a few important updates:

End of Year (2020-2021)
Face Covering Guidance
The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) and Department of Public Health (DPH) have issued their final guidance for face coverings in school facilities for the remainder of this school year.  You can find the information here:  CSDE Mask Wearing Guidance

End of Year Events / Outdoor Guidance
DPH has also issued guidance for outdoor events that can be found here (End of Year/Outdoor Guidance) that will assist schools in end-of-year event planning.

Next Year (2021-2022)
Reopening Plan
As required by the CSDE, the district is in the process of updating our Reopening Plan for the next school year.  We are proud to have been in person since August 2020 and much of the future guidance will depend on CSDE and DPH.  Your feedback matters in this work and I ask that any suggestion, idea, or concept, be emailed directly to me by June 4th.

The district will post a draft of the Reopening Plan by June 24th and expect updates over the summer in mid-July and then again in early August.

Transportation Waivers
In early June, you will receive a letter about transportation waivers for the coming year. These waivers were beneficial in our routing for all students and will be continued to help make our routes more efficient.

Future of Voluntary Remote Learning
The CSDE has issued guidance on remote learning for the 2021-2022 school year and effective next school year, the district shall discontinue offering remote learning opportunities for students associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.  This change means that the District will no longer provide students with voluntary access to remote learning at the unilateral request of students/families.  We look forward to having all students in school.

Continue to stay strong. Together you are making a difference and some normalcy is slowly returning.

My best to all,

Chris
