Update - Post Thanksgiving Learning Phase

Update on Post Thanksgiving Learning Phase (11.9.2020)
Posted on 11/09/2020

Dear School Community,

I wanted to thank everyone that responded to the recent survey about post-Thanksgiving and the district consideration of in-person vs. remote learning for our secondary students.

I am proud to say that we had over 1,200 responses and 392 written responses.

The feedback was so valuable and helps me have a clear understanding of people’s feelings.

The following is a snapshot of some of the data from the survey:

When I went further into the district data the balance between Phase 1 and Phase 3 was also very similar:

Over the next week, I will be speaking with each Board of Education about this topic. I will discuss with the Litchfield Board of Education on Thursday, November 12th, and the Region 6 Board of Education on Monday, November 16th.  I will also continue to monitor COVID-19 case data at the local and state level. I expect, that after speaking with both Boards of Education that a final announcement will be made no later than Wednesday, November 18th.

Again, I thank everyone for sharing their thoughts. I have said in the spring that this takes everyone. With everyone we re-opened our schools and it is how we will continue forward.

Stay healthy. Stay strong.
