School Closure - Clarification

Dear RSD6 Community,

I wanted to provide some clarification on the updated end to the closure. As you may have heard Governor Lamont announced yesterday that the state ordered school closure will now last until April 20th.  Today, there was a radio interview and the Governor stated “April 20 is the minimum, probably the school year.”  This is our reality - the unknown. At this point we plan for April 20th and continue to be flexible.

Some of you have noticed in recent days that I am now closing emails with “Stay Healthy. Stay Strong. Live Forward.” I have been asked – Why? What does that mean? Here is my simple explanation.

Stay Healthy:  This must be our first goal in our current world. We must follow guidance from medical professionals and also ensure that we all stay physically and mentally healthy. If we don’t start with this premise then we will not be able to achieve the tasks in front of us.

Stay Strong: We are fortunate to live in arguably one of the strongest communities. This is an area of the country where a neighbor still helps another. We pride ourselves on the fact that we look out for each other and are always there for a person, or family, in need. The stronger we are together then the more we can accomplish in an environment fraught with constant obstacles.

Live Forward: I truly don’t know what tomorrow will bring. None of us really know. This fast moving, ever changing world, is a bit exciting and somewhat scary. However, if we live each day with a forward and optimistic view then we can focus on the children, their future, and providing the best possible outcomes.

Stay Healthy. Stay Strong. Live Forward.
