Dear Region 6 Community,

Last night, the voters of Warren, Morris, and Goshen approved the district referendum question that will allow for 6th grade students to attend WAMOGO Middle School starting with the 2021-2022 school year.

This was a historic moment for the district and provides an opportunity for the first significant education plan change since 1970, and first grade configuration change since 1953.

I want to begin by thanking the Board of Education, the Work Group on Enrollment and School Design, the district’s Admin Team and the many, many staff and community members who attended Town Tours, shared their feedback, asked tough questions and showed their support for this important initiative.  Together we have created a powerful moment that will benefit the children of Warren, Morris, and Goshen.

On November 18, 2019, at the next Board of Education meeting, I will ask the Board to direct me to create an inclusive implementation plan by January 2020.   It is essential this implementation plan provides the opportunity for everyone; students, staff, parents and community members, in designing the future of WAMOGO Middle School.  This work is important, will be thoughtful and not rushed.  As with past planning processes, it will be rooted in collective feedback and diverse opinions.

It is my honor to lead our district forward and I am proud to be part of the current and future work of these three great communities.

Together we are stronger and our children will benefit from all of our efforts.
