Dear Community,

October Greetings!

Today marked the 26th day of the 2020-2021 school year. As I have said often this year, this journey is a marathon and not a sprint.

Yesterday, I took the morning to visit classrooms across both districts. I needed to see students, the learning, and celebrate education. It is important, in this marathon of a year, to celebrate every daily victory. We must find the joy in all things; from students learning their first letters, writing persuasive essays, or balancing differentiated equations. Education, in all its forms, is truly a process that occurs over time.

I also continue to celebrate this community every day; our staff giving endlessly to make something special in a difficult time. Our students, who know that if they follow the rules, they can have the opportunity for in-person education, and our community that constantly supports educators and our schools.

The hard part of being in a marathon is that while every mile marker (a day) is important to celebrate, it also indicates there is more distance to travel. Together, we are doing something special and we need to celebrate each achievement. We must also continue to push forward, mile after mile, and day after day, to reach the ultimate goal.

As we continue on the next phase of this journey, remember to celebrate each day and also look forward to the next day.

Stay healthy. Stay strong. Live forward on our journey.
