Dear Region 6 Community,

On Tuesday, the Republican-American brought forward new details on the untimely passing of Mr. Mark Yanaway.

While we continue to grieve as a community, the Region 6 mental health team will continue to be made available as a resource for students, families, and staff who may be struggling emotionally as a result of this tragic loss and the surrounding circumstances.

As an extension of these services, the team would also like to provide families with some helpful resources available in the community, should they be needed.

211, United Way Help-Line

For parents, talking about death with youth and adolescents can be a difficult topic to address, but you are not alone! The National Institute of Health released a helpful resource guide that may be used when approaching this conversation with your child.

The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide was founded in 2005, and their mission is to reduce the number of youth suicides and attempted suicides by encouraging public awareness through the development and promotion of educational training programs on a state and national level. For parental support in knowing how to talk to your child about suicide awareness, below is a link that you may find helpful.
