Dear RSD6 Community,

On Monday, we will fully launch the Distance Learning curriculum to our students.  This is a change in how we look at school and how we provide new instruction.  I am very proud of all the work accomplished by our staff and know that this method of instructional delivery will continue to adjust and evolve over time.  While we do not wish for schools to remain closed, we are also well prepared for whatever comes next.

This spring, I was excited to provide a coding class to our elementary students as part of the After School Enrichment Program.  Despite the obvious setbacks, I am pleased to share that we have reached a unique partnership with NextGen SmartyPants to provide online coding opportunities to our students in grades 2 through 6 for the length of the closure.

The program will start on Monday and run each day from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on the following schedule:

Monday: JMS

Tuesday: GCS

Wednesday: LCS

Thursday: LIS

Friday: Warren

While parental participation is recommended, it is not required for the students to participate. Signup information, including a link, will be forthcoming in an email from the school.  As a parent I understand the challenges of having students at home is never easy.  This opportunity is a creative way to foster enrichment in our school-to-home distance learning program.

Additionally, we continue to finalize enrichment concepts for grades 7-12 and hope those will be possible in coming week or two (should the closure continue).

Stay Healthy. Stay Strong. Live Forward.
