December Greeting and Looking Forward

December Greeting and Looking Forward
Posted on 11/30/2020

Dear Community,

An early December greeting and I hope this email finds everyone having enjoyed a peaceful Thanksgiving break.

As we head into the final month of 2020, there are a few important things to review before we turn to 2021.

2021-2022 Calendar

You will find a link to the proposed 2021-2022 calendar HERE.

This calendar includes the following:

a)    181 days

b)   Two-day phase-in for the start of the school year

c)    Two-week “holiday break” which with all the uncertainty proved very important this school year

d)   Spring Break will be from April 18 through April 22; this matches the majority of the Berkshire League calendars.

I welcome all emailed feedback on the proposed calendar, as the Board of Education is expected to approve the calendar at its December meeting.

2021-2022 Budget Questions or Ideas?

Each December, I ask the community to send me ideas, questions, or concepts as we start preparing for the next school year budget.

I encourage any and every idea or question be emailed to me at by December 17, 2020. Over the years, it is the suggestions of the community (students, staff, and parents) that helps make us fiscally stronger.

A Different December

This December will be very different than past years in education. We are used to a month of concerts, performances, and school-based events.  While 2020 has canceled or postponed many things, let us all remember the good found in this time of year. It is going to be different, but the generosity of our spirit can carry us through to a new year.

Stay healthy. Stay strong. A new year is coming as we live forward.
