Community Update on Graduation Planning

Community Update on Graduation Planning
Posted on 05/15/2020

Dear RSD6 Community,

Yesterday, we received an announcement from the Commissioner of Education, Miguel Cardona, regarding guidance on graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020.  You can find a copy of that letter by clicking HERE

The guidance outlines that school districts are required to adhere to current Executive Orders issued by Governor Lamont.  This includes the restrictions placed on social and recreational gatherings.

While this was not guidance that everyone wanted, it was needed, important and long overdue.  During recent weeks, we have actively engaged ideas from parents and students on planning for many different scenarios for graduation.  We will consider each and all in light of these guidelines when finalizing details for our ceremonies.  More details will come from your child’s school regarding these events by Friday, May 22, 2020.

While we respect the importance of the current public health concerns, we remain committed to providing the most memorable experience for our Class of 2020.  Our senior class deserves the best, has worked exceptionally hard to reach this milestone moment, and know that we will not rest until they are honored for their accomplishments.

Stay Healthy. Stay Strong. We continue to live forward.

Chris and Sabin
