Dear  Region 6 Community,

What an amazing two days as we kicked off Facilitated Distance Learning (or Back to School 2.0)!

On Monday, we had over 97% of our students login and today that number exceeded 98%.  I am beyond words, proud, and thankful of our staff, students, parents, and greater community.  We are truly making education work during extenuating circumstances.  There are still issues to resolve, but know that each day we keep getting better.

There has been such amazing work ongoing everyday across our communities.  There are many who need our collective thanks for going above and beyond.  I am thoughtful of an email sent a few months ago and our need for the phrase – Thank You.  I have decided that each day for the length of this closure, either via email or social media, that I am going to issue a Thank You

Today, I start with thanks for the collaborative work of EdAdvance and All-Star Transportation.  Together, our cafeteria workers and bus drivers have found a way to deliver over 200 meals a day to families across both districts. They have defined how community matters and that we are stronger together.

In the coming days, please stay on the lookout for clarification on grading during distance learning, spring break assignments, end of the year events, and graduation plans.  We are currently developing many different contingency plans to last us through this closure.

As of today, we expect to hear the next update on the closure from the State of Connecticut on, or before, April 10th.  Irrespective of that timing, we will stay prepared for anything and everything for our students and families.

Stay healthy. Stay strong. Live forward.

Chris
