Dear RSD6 Community,

Yesterday, Governor Lamont issued an executive order that closed all Connecticut schools at least through March 31, 2020.  The press conference also included a promise that the Connecticut State Department of Education would be providing guidance and help to districts with online learning opportunities for students. There is clearly much to be determined and events keep changing.

With respect to the school calendar, the guidance continues to adjust.  Internally, we are looking at options for distance learning, school during spring break, understanding when we can return to school and the impact of all these changes will have on learning, academic performance, assessments, spring sports, music events and finalizing dates for graduation.  I will provide an update as everything becomes clearer.

While both LPS and RSD6 have already provided our students with online learning opportunities, our work continues as we plan for a prolonged closure. Tomorrow, the school administration will meet and determine next steps for our students and families should a closure extend into April.

As we live in a unique time, I must stress flexibility and patience. As we continue to move forward, my best wishes to everyone and I still believe that better days will be found in the future.

Regards,

Chris
