Dear Region 6 Community,

As our collaboration between districts is better and stronger than ever, I wanted to make you aware of a letter that was issued this afternoon to the Litchfield Public Schools.  The copy of the Litchfield Community letter can be found below.

There is currently no phase change for Region 6 at this time and we continue to monitor the case. I will update all as necessary should circumstances change.

Dear Litchfield Community,

Today it came to our attention that several of our students, across multiple schools, attended a non-school event last weekend and had prolonged exposure with a positive COVID-19 case.  We have worked with Torrington Area Health District (TAHD) and initiated the isolation, quarantine, and contact tracing process.

Due to the complex nature of this case, the ongoing contact tracing, and with an extreme amount of caution, the entire Litchfield Public Schools will be on Remote Learning for Friday, September 18, 2020. More information will be forthcoming from your school on tomorrow’s schedule for your student.

The decision to change the learning phase is not an easy one but the safest with all current information. With so many variables (multiple grade levels, classrooms, and transportation) we must be vigilant to contain any possible community spread.

Tomorrow, our buildings will be deep cleaned again, and we will continue the process with the TAHD. Should your student be directly impacted by this situation either the school or TAHD will contact you.

More information about our learning status for next week will be shared as possible in the coming days and the latest by Sunday evening.

In closing I am mindful that obstacles are part of day-to-day life. We will overcome this event and continue to move forward.
