Dear Litchfield and Region 6 Communities,

Over the course of the last two years, our two school districts have moved forward with increased collaboration.  This afternoon we are excited to share an important next step and new development.  This comes after both LPS and RSD6 boards of education unanimously decided to proceed with exploring further opportunities for collaboration.

In the coming days, both the Litchfield Board of Education and the Region 6 Board of Education will individually and unanimously approve a motion to negotiate a contract for a shared Superintendent. It is our hope that by early June the two Boards of Education can finalize an agreement that will only increase cooperation and shared services for years to come.

Chris Leone, the current Superintendent of Region 6 has agreed to lead this important work for our students and districts.

In May, Chris will tour all schools and communities to share a plan and to hear community concerns and to answer questions.  Chris will be in Goshen on May 20th, Warren on May 21st, Morris on May 22nd, and Litchfield on May 23rd

We are proud that Litchfield and Region 6 are working together, being proactive, innovative and educational leaders in our state.  It is our students, through programs and resources, who will benefit from this important step for years to come.

Gayle Carr, Litchfield Board of Education, Chair

Heather Connor, RSD6 Board, Chair

Chris Leone, Superintendent
