RSD6 Community,

I wanted to take a moment and share some great news about our staff, students, and district, winning awards:

2018 National Distinguished Principal Award - Finalist

The district has received notification that Dr. Angela Rossbach is a finalist for the 2018 National Distinguished Principal Award (a/k/a Elementary Principal of the Year Award). Angela was nominated by MaryEllen Birdsall on behalf of the Warren School staff. The selection committee will visit Warren School on April 9, 2018 – more information to follow.
Congratulations Angela!

CABE Communications Award

On Saturday, the district was informed that it won the CABE Communication Award for Best Newsletter. The award for the Harvester, produced by Leslie Pescatore, will be presented at the March BOE Meeting.
 Congratulations Leslie!

An Art Contest and Exhibit Celebrating Water

Over 70 works of art were submitted for Water: An Art Contest and Exhibit Celebrating Water, at the Indian Mountain School, Lakeville, CT. Of those works, just over 20 paintings and photographs were selected through a blind jury process. Judges included Sandra Boynton, cartoonist, writer, and director; Agnes Gund, president emerita of the Museum of Modern Art and chair of MoMA PS1; and Craig Starr, gallery owner on the Upper East Side showcasing prominent artists. At the prestigious art opening, Wendy Costa, Wamogo High School art teacher and photographer specializing in digital infrared photography, won first place for her photograph, Innisfree Waterfall.
Congratulations Wendy!

All-State Music Festival

Congratulations to the following two Wamogo musicians for making the All-State Music Festival:

Jacob Beausoleil- Clarinet

Thomas Boger-Hawkins- Tenor

This is an incredibly difficult and highly competitive festival and a true honor to be selected. Congratulations Jacob and Thomas!

Despite the snow, it has been a great start to February in RSD6.

Chris
